Virginia Smith is the 23-year-old daughter of Michael and Michelle Smith of Ava, Ill. She has spent her year as Miss Rodeo Illinois representing Illinois, Professional Rodeo, and the western way of life across the beautiful state of Illinois as well as across the country. Smith has been lucky enough to travel to many different states and rodeo events in January, Smith kicked off the year at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado, along with many other state queens attending this iconic rodeo. She then headed to Kissimmee, Fla. in February be a part of the Silver Spurs Rodeo. During the Illinois Horse Fair in March, Smith and Reed helped host the Miss Illinois Horse Fair pageant of which they both have previously been title holders. May brought the kick off of summer rodeo season as Smith traveled to Guymon, Oklahoma, for the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo. This newly inducted Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame rodeo was one of her favorite events she has been able to attend this year. In June, she was invited along with Miss Rodeo Minnesota and Miss Rodeo Iowa to be a part of the 50th Cherokee Camber PRCA (Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association) Rodeo in Cherokee, Ia. July kicked off with Cowboy Christmas the weekend of July 4th. The Shenandoah Days Pro Rodeo in Galena, Illinois was the first PRCA rodeo here in Illinois for the year. The iconic Cheyenne Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wy., was the next event that Virginia attended the last week in July. Having a fly by on the track at the "Daddy of em All" was an experience that she won't ever forget. The weekend following Cheyenne, twenty- two of the state queens attended the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame Inductions in Colorado Springs, Co., and the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo in Castle Rock, Co. It was humbling for Smith to be in attendance at the Hall of Fame with so many cowboys and rodeo committees who have made such an impact in the PRCA. She is so excited to represent Illinois once again in Palestine, Ill. for the 2017 Miss Rodeo Illinois Pageant this Labor Day Weekend! With her year coming to an end, pageant preparations are in full swing for the Miss Rodeo America pageant in conjunction with the National Finals Rodeo held in Las Vegas, Nev.
